CANWEST GLOBAL COMMUNICATIONS CORP. has named veteran company executive Peter Viner interim president of its broadcasting division. He replaces Kathy Dore, who is leaving when her contract expires in December after four years as head of TV operations.

CARREFOUR SA, Europe's biggest retailer, named Nestle SA's Lars Olofsson to replace chief executive Jose Luis Duran following speculation its biggest shareholders grew frustrated about slumping sales.

Olofsson, 56, was Nestle's executive vice-president for strategic business units, marketing and sales and once ran the biggest food company's French division.

MARKS & SPENCER GROUP PLC, the U.K.'s largest clothes retailer, said George Davies will retire as part-time chair of its Per Una fashion range. Davies will step down at the end of next month, the company said yesterday.
